MISSION OF MERCY
Two 5th year students Susan Trill and Olivia Nyland (pictured here) intend to visit Malawi in central Africa next May. They decided that they would fulfil their lifelong ambitions of travelling to Africa and working
voluntarily with the sick and suffering when they heard about Gaisce, the President's Award Scheme.
Contact was made on the girls' behalf with Sr. Mary Doonan of the Irish Medical Missionaries of Mary, chaplain in the Lilongwe Hospital, Malawi, by Fr. Martin Downey PP, St. Joseph's Parish. The appalling living conditions for most of Malawi's 13 million people and the epidemic of the HIV and AIDS viruses have inspired the girls to raise money for the hospital in Lilongwe.
On Friday, 21st March, a benefit dance will be held in the Commercial Boat Club starting at 9pm. Tickets cost €10 and can be purchased from the school Tel.563495 or on the door.
All your support would be greatly welcomed.
The girls' motto is "every little helps
